Q: How much is the shipping cost?
A: Shipping is $175.00 anywhere in the continental U.S. to the shipping dock or a business who is capable of unloading the engine or $275.00 to have it shipped to a residence and or have a lift gate provided for unloading.

Q: What is a long block?
A: A long block is the short block which includes the block casting with all the required machining, crankshaft, connecting rods, all new rod bearings, main bearings, pistons, rings, soft plugs, camshaft and timing. The cylinder heads which includes head casting with all the required machining, new valves, keepers, springs and seals, all new rocker arms push rods and lifters complete the assembly. The long block also includes a full set of gaskets and a new oil pump.
The non wearing parts of an engine such as the oil pan, valve covers, timing covers, and intake manifold are removed from your old engine, cleaned and reinstalled on the new long block. There is no need to raise the cost of an engine replacement by purchasing these items.

Q: What performance options do you offer?
A: We have several performance options available; however do to the many different options offered for the variety of engines available it is not possible to list them here. It is best to call for your individualized request.

Q: What is the engine warranty?
A: The warranty offered is a pro-rated seven year 100,000 mile warranty.
The Standard warranty which comes at no additional charge offers a labor reimbursement of $45.00 per hour. All labor is calculated by the Mitchell time guide. A maximum amount of $500.00 is paid for an engine removed and replace.
Two additional warranties are offered. A Premium warranty which cost an additional $110.00, this warranty covers labor at $55.00 per hour up to a $750.00 maximum paid and an Extra Premium warranty which covers labor at $65.00 per hour up to a maximum of $850.00 paid.
There are limitations and exclusions in the warranty, for details please refer to the home page and see "warranty" for details.

Q: Can I cancel my order?
A: You can cancel your order without any charges before we've started building your engine.
Note: Since we confirm the order information before processing it, you'll have many opportunities to cancel the order without any charges.

Q: Can I custom build my engine?
A: We can custom build your engine upon your request (additional charge may apply).
When ordering an engine either by phone or online, ask the sales rep about additional options available on the specific engine.

Q: How should I order an engine?
A: You can order an engine online by searching our web site and then continue to the checkout process. Rest assured, one of our sales reps will contact you to verify your order information and payment method.
We will not process your order before talking with you personally. You can also call us on our toll free number at 1-866-262-5531 to order your engine/cylinder head or with any question you might have.

Q: SUMMARY OF OUR ENGINE LIMITED WARRANTY:
A: Passenger car and light truck long blocks are covered for 7 years or 70,000 miles. If failure of a long block should occur during the first twenty-four months and it is determined the failure is due to a defect in workmanship or parts installed by S &S, we (S &S Engine) will replace or repair the defective unit to the original buyer. During the balance of the warranty, Supplier will replace the long block at one-half of the current retail price.

The Standard limit labor reimbursement covers labor at $35.00 per hour up to a maximum of $400.00. A Premium warranty is offered for $110.00, which pays labor at $55.00 per hour up to a maximum of $700.00.
An Extra Premium warranty is offered for $150.00, which pays labor at $65.00 per hour up to a maximum of $850.00.

All Premium and Extra Premium warranties must be purchased at the time of sale.

Q: What are the engine specifications?
A: Engines remanufactured by our remanufacturing line meet or exceed O.E.M. specifications.
- New Manley valves
- New Elgin valve springs and keepers
- New Badger pistons
- New Hastings molly rings
- New Dynagear timing gears and Durabond cam bearings
- New Dynagear timing gears and chain
- New Elgin lifters, push rods, rockers, balls and nuts
- New Dynagear oil pump
- New FelPro gaskets
- Cylinder heads are pressure checked
- Diamond honed valve guides
- Three angle cut valve seats
- All head surfaces are broached
- Blocks are bored with deck plates, cylinder walls are diamond honed

Q: What is the description of engine long blocks?
A: All long blocks come with cylinder head(s) attached and valve train installed. Valve covers, timing cover, intake manifold and oil pan are not included.

All long blocks have NEW valves, valve springs, valve keepers, push rods, rocker arms, fulcrums, lifters, camshaft, timing chain (belt), timing gears, valve guides (diamond honed), three angle seats, cam, rod and main bearings, pistons, piston rings, rod bushings (if applicable), gaskets and oil pump.

All cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, crankshafts and connecting rods are cleaned and shot peened and magnafluxed for cracks. All bolt holes are tapped.

Cylinder blocks are bored to each piston and diamond honed to 18RMS finish. All oil galleys are hand brushed with white cleaning brushes and cylinders are hand cleaned with cleaning solution and white towels.
Cylinder heads have each valve guide diamond honed, seats are three angle. After assembly, heads are vacuum checked for valve seating.

Crankshafts are ground and polished to 12RMS. Each oil galley is hand brushed with a white cleaning brush.

All connecting rods are honed.

Q: Can you provide me with specific casting numbers?
A: Unfortunately we can not guarantee any casting numbers. If you would like specific numbers, you will need to send us your cores to rebuild for you.

Q: Do you carry all of the engines in stock?
A: For the most part we do. Unfortunately there are some times when we sell them faster than we can build them or they are a rare engine that we have no cores for. If we have the cores available but do not have one built, the standard build time is 5 business days. On the other hand, if we have no cores available, we would ask that you send us your cores and we would do a custom build for you.

Q: Do you have any outlets that are closer to me?
A: Our only store is located in Spokane, Washington. This makes it easier for us to monitor our inventory and provide the best customer service possible.

Q: Do you have horse power and or torque ratings?
A: Unfortunately we have no torque or horse power ratings. All are stock to the year of the engine.

Q: Do you sell Complete or Turn Key engines?
A: No, we sell long blocks.

A: Yes we do. We can sell short blocks (block without heads) or we can sell you just heads.

Q: Do you sell to private parties or only dealerships/mechanics?
A: We sell to anyone who would like a quality remanufactured engine or cylinder heads.

Q: Do you sell transmissions?
A: No, we do not deal in transmissions.

Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: No, we do not ship internationally. You will be responsible for getting it shipped; we are limited to shipping within the Continental United States only. There is a freight forwarding company we have used a few times called Pacific Rim Forwarders in the Seattle, Washington area - phone number if interested 206-622-7851.

Q: How are the engines packaged for shipping?
A: For the most part our engines are shrink wrapped in plastic, strapped to a palette, and placed in a cardboard box. There are occasions when, for example if we were shipping overseas, we would use a fitted crate. This must be requested at the time the order is placed and there is an additional charge for this option.

A: The dimensions are 34" x 25" x 30". The over all cubic feet is 15.

Q: What does long block entail?
A: All of our long blocks come with the block, heads, all internals, oil pump, timing set, and gaskets. You will need to obtain all of the external parts.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover as well as Cashier's check or Money Order (excluding Western Union). If you are an international customer and a wire transfer is easier for you, we can accommodate this as well. More information is available upon request.

Q: What is a core charge and how does it work?
A: A core charge is basically what it would cost us to replace the block or "core" that we send out to you. You can send us your cores, or we can use ours and charge you for the core. If we send you our cores, upon receiving your engine, you can send us your old core (assuming that shipping is less than the core - otherwise you might want to try to sell it locally) and we will refund the core charge minus freight charges (if the core is deemed rebuildable.)

Q: What is the standard shipping price? (excluding Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, The US Virgin Islands, and Canada)
A: We can ship to a business with a forklift for $175.00 or a residence for $255.00. (to save yourself some money, you can pick it up at the closest freight dock for 175.00 we can get you the address of the dock upon request.)

Q: What is the standard shipping time?
A: This varies by region, however here are some approximates. We can get to the East Coast within 7-10 business days, the west coast is usually 3-5 business days, and central US is usually 5-7 business days. We can get to most of Washington, Oregon and Idaho within 1-2 business days.

Q: When I place my order, how will I get the warranty information? Also, what do I need to fill out/send back?
A: The warranty information will be in the box with the engine in a manila 6x9 envelope. There will be a cover sheet outlining the warranty information as well as two (2) copies of the actual warranty - a white copy and a yellow copy. Please fill these out while they are still attached together as it is a carbon copy. The yellow copy is for your records and the white copy needs to come back to us with a copy of your emissions test. **If your state does not have emissions testing, or it is not required, most mechanics will have the equipment available to get all of the readings necessary to validate the warranty.
